Why the Walker County Center of Technology?
- Indicators show that 92% of Career Tech graduates have a more positive employment, training, or postsecondary enrollment outcome due to the training they receive in secondary technical schools.
- CTE programs, along with student organization activities, contribute to the Alabama economy by equipping graduates with in-demand skills that translate to well-paid jobs, according to the Alabama CTSO.
- Career and Technical Education programs in Alabama benefit from strong partnerships with businesses and industries, providing students with opportunities for real-world experiences and career pathways, according to the Alabama CTE Impact Report.
- According to the Alabama State Department of Education, in 2020, over 180,000 students in grades 9-12 were enrolled in Alabama CTE programs, demonstrating the widespread participation in these programs. Those numbers were expected to rise as the need for trained technicians increased.
