Graphic Communications Industry

This is a commercial design/printing program.

Who Is This Program For?

This elective is for students who are pursuing a career in commercial design/printing and students who are serious about learning this industry for another skill set or career option. The program curriculum is based on content work and assignments required to succeed in this industry field.

This Graphic Design program, and instructor, is nationally accredited. This is an industry level program elective that introduces students to commercial design and print. This program is not for those wanting to learn game design or computer maintenance. Students will learn about reproducing an image across multiple mediums in a lab and shop environment.

This is a lab and shop based program. Students will be required to perform hands-on work using tools and equipment in the shop, as well as, performing layout operations on the computer. Students will also have the opportunity to learn photography and videography in our studio.

Anyone enrolling a student into this program should be in agreement that they believe the student would be successful in this program in accordance with the suggested criteria. The required class work is designed to ramp up faster and faster on a consistent basis. This is to match the fast pace and high workload demand of the graphic communications industry.

Safety Facts

This program has a shop with machinery and tools that students are required to utilize.

  • Large guillotine cutters
  • Heat press
  • Band-saw
  • Drill press
  • Wire stitcher
  • Laser engraver
  • Xacto blades
  • Box cutters
  • Scissors

Due to the level of danger associated with these machines and tools, students have to pass a series of safety tests before gaining access to the shop.
